Well, it is the cusp of winter, and holiday time. Wherever and however you are spending this period, on behalf of the PLRA Board, we wish you a safe and happy holiday. Enjoy it, to the best you can! If you are up at the lake, keep an eye out for anything that may be of concern to you and your neighbours and let us know.

While the solstice is just 9 days away, if you’re at the lake or have a dark sky this weekend, it’s the Geminids meteor display: (pic from Weather Network story).

However, it’s the weekend, especially on Friday and Saturday nights, that the universe is expected to deliver an amazing show, as the annual Geminid meteor shower reaches it’s peak.

Also, if you’re up please confirm the ice has encompassed the lake. It looked close a week ago and there have been cold days/nights since. It’s also early to have 15cm (6”) of ground snow but from at least Dec 8 that’s been reported, so maybe a good winter for snowmobiles and cross-country skiing.
